Pros

  • The price of this 10 person tent is reasonable, given the size and features.
  • Strong Material quality.
  • Material quality is strong.
  • Aluminum Pin-and-ring system for easy and quick setup.
  • Quite spacious. Up to ten people can sleep on a sleeping bag, but best for 5-6 people.
  • 3 Queen Air Mattress and 2 Twin Mattress can be adjusted
  • Comes with a color-coded pole, which helps set up the tent very quickly.
  • The stitching of the tent is strong.
  • Flexible enough to convert it into a two-room tent in no time with the divider provided with the tent
  • The frame has a robust structure that is made of fiberglass.
  • Easy to carry for its lightweight – about 26 lbs only.
  • The Center Height of the tent is perfect. A 6′ tall person can stand inside the tent.
  • A solid bathtub style flooring made of heavy-duty anti-fungal polyethylene and silver-coated.
  • Detachable divider to divide the rooms into two and privacy.
  • Two D-shaped large doors and three windows for easy entry and exceptional ventilation.
  • Nicely made rainfly to prevent water penetration.
  • You can roll back the front part of the rainfly to have a screen room to enjoy the beautiful nature outside the tent.
  • Breathable polyester NO-SEE-UM micro mesh to protect you from mosquitoes and other insects.
  • The large screen on one side of the tent for enjoying the star in the night.
  • Loft to keep gears.
  • Mesh pockets to keep the utility tools.
  • O-ring to hang the fan or lantern.

Cons

  • You can open the window’s flaps only from the outside.
  • The door design could have been better. Opening the door in the rain can be a challenge. Rain can enter inside if you enter and exit a few times while raining.
  • The fiberglass poles are very long in height. Aluminum poles would have been better for something as large as this.
  • There is no instruction manual, even though the setup is easy. However, having a manual is always helpful to set up for the first time at least.
  • There is a canopy on one end of the tent without any poles to hold up.
  • No electrical cable port provided

Tips

  • Try to arrange a large bag for carrying the tent. We had struggled to put the complete tent inside the bag because of the plastic tub, which is not easy to roll or fold.

  • Try to arrange a large bag for carrying the tent. We had struggled to put the complete tent inside the bag because of the plastic tub, which is not easy to roll or fold.

  • Try to avoid Queen Air Mattress. You will bounce if your partner moves while sleeping. Go for 2 Twin Beds and place them side by side if you like to.

  • Make sure that you lay the rainfly first before raising the tent. Once you erect the tent, it will be challenging to lay the rainfly because of the height. If you don’t do so, you will have to collapse the tent partially to do so.

  • You can bring trekking poles to keep the rainfly window and door flaps open. Three poles will be enough. Water won’t enter inside even if it rains while they remain open.

  • The bathtub size floor’s plastic material is like heavy tarpaulin and sounds loud while walking inside the tent. You may use a plastic outdoor carpet to subdue the sound. You also want to bring some earplugs if you can’t arrange a carpet.

Pros

  • Quite spacious. It can accommodate up to 7-8 family members comfortably. Even up to 11 people can be adjusted in this cabin-style tent.
  • The main room is quite roomy and high.
  • It’s relatively easy to set up; the main poles need a bit of force to fix into the ground.
  • Strong and durable.
  • A Separate screen room is on the front. You can turn this into a sleeping room by just closing the zip.
  • The mesh of the screen room prevents the mosquito and other insects from entering the camping tent. It also helps in air circulation.
  • The unique ventilation system in both rooms because of the big door and windows. Ceiling made of the mesh also plays a vital role in ventilation.
  • Two adjustable vents are in the main room close to the floor. It allows the cold air inside and drives out hot air.
  • Color-coded poles are useful in setting up the tent quickly.
  • Three double-bed or queen-sized air mattresses can easily be accommodated.
  • Center Height is substantially extended – up to 7 Ft. So, most people can comfortably stand in this cabin tent.
  • The quality of the fabric is excellent.
  • Bright-orange guy lines are for improved luminosity.
  • Unique pockets are given in both the main room and screen room. You can easily reach them.
  • Expandable, reasonably significant in size carry bag for carrying the cabin tent.
  • Gear loft with lantern hooks.
  • The electrical access port is to connect the power inside the cabin tent.
  • A manual with clear and easy to understand instruction comes with the cabin tent.
  • Reasonably easy and quick to disassemble.

Cons

  • The rainfly doesn’t cover the entire cabin tent. It only safeguards the ceiling.
  • There is no rainfly to cover the screen room. You can’t keep it open if it’s raining. I would have loved to sit here to enjoy the rain while protecting myself from the same.
  • The tent’s floor is not bathtub shaped, which is why it’s not suitable to prevent the rainwater from coming inside.
  • You may need to buy tarps to protect the floor as it’s fragile.
  • There is no separate door for the main cabin. It’s inconvenient to use this family camping tent as two rooms as you always have to enter through the screen room to reach the main room.
  • While a vast 10 person tent is suitable for family or big groups, it may not fit all campsites.
  • The downside of a very tall cabin tent is it may not be able to weather extreme wind.
  • The zippers’ quality is not very good. It gets stuck during zipping and unzipping.
  • There is a gap between Zipper and Velcro, which allows bugs and rain to come inside.
  • Stakes that come with this cabin tent could have been of better quality.
  • Velcro closure on the front door destroys the screen when stored in an open position.

Tips

  • Please remember that it’s not a ‘Freestanding’ tent. So, choose a camping spot accordingly. The tent needs to be fixed completely to make it fully functional and secure. So, you must avoid gravel or seashore.

  • In my opinion, it’s not exactly an ‘instant tent’ even though many people consider it so. Instant tents are supposed to have the poles hooked-up permanently and frames pre-assembled. But this 10 person instant cabin tent doesn’t have the same.

  • Use a black loop to pull the tent. Don’t pull the tent directly.

  • The footprint’s size should be smaller than the tent to restrict the water from coming inside the cabin tent.

  • The tent shouldn’t be twisted where the stakes are. A twisted area lets the water come inside the cabin tent.

  • To make assembly and disassembly easy and quick, you should put the poles by pushing them instead of pulling them.

  • Use the folded poles to roll the tent up. Once poles are folded, you can easily place the tent inside the carry bag.

Final Thoughts

The tent should have an alternative door in the main room, given the tent’s large size. One long zipper from top to bottom is a pain. Small windows in the bottom corner let the insects come inside instead of helping in ventilation. Despite these shortcomings, it’s still one of the best 10 person instant cabin tents in this category. You can go for it if you are not camping during the rainy season.

  • The price is reasonable, given the size and features of the tent.
  • 1-year limited warranty.

Cons

  • Not appropriate for camping in the rainy season as only the top portion is covered by rainfly and the porch doesn’t have any rainfly.
  • It can be freezing if the temperature goes below 45-degree Fahrenheit.
  • The hinged door may open on its own sometimes.
  • The porch is not covered with mesh, which is why you need to keep all your stuff inside the tent.
  • No floor on the Porch. You need a tarp.
  • Fiberglass Poles are of sub-standard quality.

Tips

  • Carry additional tarps to cover the roof and to put on the floor of the porch.

  • ·Don’t forget to bring a small broom and dustbin for cleaning up the tent before leaving.

  • You should also get a small battery-operated lantern to hang from the ceiling.

Final Thoughts

This tent is best suited for relaxed camping when the weather is good. You must avoid using this tent in challenging weather.

Rainfly could have covered the tent fully. It would have been excellent had it come with at least rail flaps on the screen room.

The door could have been a little bit bigger. It should have been square instead of half circle.

Since Mountain Trails Grand Pass 10-Person Tent is currently unavailable on Amazon, we’re recommending you to check Ozark Trail 10 Person Tent. It’s as good as Mountain Trails Grand Pass 10-Person Tent.

Pros

  • An ample amount of space is inside the tent.
  • Two Queen Air Mattresses can easily be accommodated.
  • Ventilation is outstanding even with windows being shut.
  • Two ‘D’ style Dutch doors.
  • Detachable rainfly and mesh roof vents.
  • The rainfly creates a canopy on the door.
  • Screen Divider to divide the tent into two rooms.
  • Mats outside the door help keep the tent dry and clean.
  • It’s light in weight.
  • Set-up is easy.
  • Price is justifiable in this category.

Cons

  • Not suitable for steady rain.
  • No porch or canopy.
  • Tent stakes are of low quality.
  • No carry bag.
  • No electrical access pockets.
  • The awning over the door gets caught in the zipper very often.
  • The zipper is of sub-standard quality.
  • Doors are partly up towards the sky, so rain enters the tent directly if the doors are open.

Tips

  • Doors and wind current shouldn’t be on the same side.

  • It’s not a freestanding tent. For stakes, you would require a ground. You can’t do it on the gravel or sand.

  • You should leave a bit of space for zipper closures to avoid continuous bump and irritating sound.

  • Don’t forget that it’s tent is not for rough weather. This is just a summer tent.

Final Thoughts

This tent is well-designed, spacious, well-ventilated, and the price is quite reasonable. It can be a great tent in blistering weather.

I would have ranked this tent in the top 3 in this category had it come with better waterproofing. It can’t even prevent water leakage during light rain.

The divider is just a screen that gives hardly any privacy. It should have been better.

Tahoe Gear Olympia 10-Person 3-Season Tent Review

Product Name: Tahoe Gear Olympia 10-Person 3-Season Tent

Review Summary

The Tahoe Gear Olympia 10-Person 3-Season Tent is a stretched, dome-shaped, single room tent. This tent’s size is good enough to easily accommodate a family of 5-6 persons or two queen air mattresses. Set-up of this tent is comparatively easy because of its pin-and-ring system.

It is a single door tent with two windows and two ventilation flaps that give pretty good ventilation. The roof is mesh, which comes halfway down the back wall.

The poles are used in the center of the tent. But, both the sections of the tent have no poles and are fixed only by the stakes. The tent will be crumbled, making it unusable without stakes. So, you need to have a ground where you can secure the stakes properly. This is not possible in the sand or stone. Without getting the stakes in the ground, you can’t use this tent. This is the flaw of this tent.

Pros

  • Very roomy.
  • Easy to set-up.
  • 1,200mm polyester used in the tent & rainfly to make it reasonably strong and comfortable for warm or cold weather.
  • Two Queen Air Mattresses can be placed comfortably.
  • Rainfly creates a canopy over the door to prevent the water.
  • Power slip for power cord access.
  • Large D-style door.
  • 7 Ft. ceiling height in the middle.
  • A lot of mesh is all over the tent for ventilation.
  • The zippers are tough and decent quality. All zips are relatively smooth.
  • Zipping power cord unit for accessing the power.
  • Easy to carry for its light-weight – 23 lbs.

Cons

  • There is no window at the backside of the tent.
  • It gets over-crowded with 10 people inside.
  • There is no pole for both sides of the tent. The tent held up by stakes. You are going to have a tough time if you can’t get them in the ground correctly.
  • Seams have small holes, which may require to be sealed.
  • The bag that comes with this tent is too small to use.
  • It does NOT have a bucket floor. All the floor seams are on the ground.
  • No loops or pockets available inside except one on the top for hanging the light or fan.

Tips

Tent stakes given with this tent are not of good quality. You should make your own pointed stakes to make sure that these aren’t pulled out by the harsh wind.

Two sides of the tent won’t hold out the bottom without stakes. Poles are going to fall down if the corners are not staked down. So, you will have a real hard time if the ground is rocky or hard.

A possible solution – There are little loops on the rainfly for guyline. You can tie the same to a nearby tree which might hold it.

Final Thoughts

This tent is not for 3-seasons as it claims. Use it in summer only when you know that the weather is not going to be very challenging.

This is not definitely a 10-person tent. A maximum of 5-6 people can stay comfortably in this tent.

You can go for it if you need not use it very often.

What to Consider When Choosing a 10-Person Family Tent?

Whether it’s small or big, picking up the right tent is a daunting task for many. You must know what you are looking for in your 10 person tent before buying.

You can start by talking to your camping buddies who have some knowledge of camping equipment. They can give you good insight. Also, check with your family members or friends traveling with you about the features they may want to have.

Now, it’s your turn to consider what features you would like to have. Check if the 10 person tents you want to buy can really accommodate 10 persons. In most cases, it can’t.

You should also know the number of rooms you want before buying the best 10 person tent. The window’s location is also essential to some people.

Some campers like to have multiple doors and are particular about the location of each entrance. Even the shape of the doors can be a factor for some.

You may want to know the types of floor the tent has before going for the purchase. Some people like the regular floor and some are very rigid about the bathtub floor.

Do you want a four-season tent that would be expensive? Or are you okay with a three-season tent? A family cabin tent may be sufficient if you camp only in summer.

What tent shape do you want? Dome or Cabin? It depends on the taste of the person.

You may want to have a waterproof tent if you’re camping during the rainy season. A rainfly can also be a deciding factor for you.

If you’re a newbie, you would love to have a tent with an instant set-up. Excellent ventilation may be a condition for many before purchasing the tent.

You may want to know the center height before picking up the best 10 person tents. The weight of the tent may be a deciding factor for many. Most people prefer to buy a lightweight tent.

Fabric is also a crucial element of a tent as durability depends on it. So you may want to check the quality of the fabric.

Many people may go for a tent just because it has some extra features like side pockets, loops, etc.

Finally, you have to consider your budget before making a final call on the best 10 person tents.
